Description
10 weeks of Power Skating and Skills sessions with Brent Bobyck. Classes cover technical aspects of skating skills with and without pucks (ringette players are welcome too), focusing on skills development, edges, strides, turns, stops and starts. Please note: This is not a beginner program. Previous skating experience is mandatory and full hockey/ringette equipment is required.
10 classes/sessions at Optimist Arena (222 Sunset Drive). The first class will be held at the Balfour Arena.
Each session is $315/per participant. (Additional $10 APCA membership required per household. This can be purchased during registration or in advance through the APCA website)
Instructor: Brent Bobyck
Registration for the fall session opens August 15th (opens at 8:00 am) – September 13, 2026
Registration Process:
1) The APCA has implemented Teamlinkt to handle Power Skating registration. TeamLinkt is the same application that is used for Flag Football and other programs. The registration link will be posted on the APCA website and will become active at 8:00AM on August 15th. There will be step by step instructions to help you through the process.
2) Ensure you register your child in the proper age group that coincides with their birth year in the table below. We will know if you have purposely registered your child in the wrong age group which could lead to non-participation.
Disclaimer: Although you may receive a confirmation that your child has been registered, APCA will review all participants and finalize the list per age group. This means if there was an omission with your registration, your child may not be able to participate.
Cancellation Policy:
Powerskating has high fixed costs therefore the refund policy is more strict than other APCA programs. Refunds requested 3 weeks prior to the start date will be granted less a $75 admin fee. Refunds requested within 3 weeks of the start date will only be granted if a replacement skater can be found. If APCA finds the replacement a $75 cancellation fee will be deducted from the refund. With APCA approval, the skater may sell their spot directly to another skater to avoid the cancellation fee. Injuries with a doctor’s note will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
